CADAIR IDRIS

Climb this iconic Welsh peak (893 m), known as the "Chair of Idris," and experience the dramatic crater-like cwm with its stunning glacial lake, Llyn Cau, at the mountain's northern face. The Pony Path ascends steadily from Tŷ Nant through woodland and open slopes, with stepped sections easing the climb before reaching the ridge above Llyn y Gader. It continues over rocky terrain to Penygadair summit, featuring a short, light non-graded scramble to the trig point for panoramic views over southern Eryri, the Mawddach estuary, and distant coast. This rewarding route offers a beautiful mix of charm and challenge – an ideal bridge between easier peaks like Pen y Fan and more demanding ones like Snowdon. Descent follows the same path back to the car park.
